eBooks Study: Follett Shelf
Using the eBooks allows for teachers to easily demonstrate strategies of good readers and researchers. With these eBooks teachers can check the book out and use on their classroom computers. This is a great tool to use on Interactive White Boards. These books let students highlight words, take notes, and even have the computer read the book. You can use these for whole and small group lessons, as well as, a reading center for independent work. This is a great way to model the strategies of good readers!
Print Source Study: Scientists in the Field
These books are written in more of a narrative nonfiction style. This writing style can combine both the literature and information text standards of the common core. These books follow scientists who study wild horses, whales, turtles, and more! A great connection to the real world, the books let students know that science isn't something already discovered in the past. Science can be the future! It is a great series to show students the scientific process, how hypotheses change, and how to be a pioneer in a new study of science.
